CFI & CFII
A great addition to your commercial pilot certificate is your certified flight instructor. This is broken down into two parts. The "CFI" allows you to teach such certificates as private or commercial, while its complement, the "CFII" allows you to teach instrument students.
The certified flight instructor is a great opportunity for pilots looking to advance in a career as a professional pilot and therefore bridge the gap between your commercial rating and the insurance requirements to fly larger aircraft. While instructing, all hours that you fly in the aircraft with students can be logged. This is known as "dual instruction".
CFI / CFII Requirements
Aeronautical Experience Required

3 hours of dual instruction within 60 days of the practical test

Hold at least a Commercial Pilot certificate

Be at least 18 years of age when training is complete

Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language

Obtain a second-class medical certificate. (For CFI/CFII privileges)

Pass the fundamentals of instruction test

Pass the CFI & CFII knowledge tests

Successfully complete the training program

Pass a practical test by an FAA examiner/DPE
